Mildred Leimbach

Mrs. Walter (Mildred) Leimbach, 99, of Sturgeon Bay, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Ministry Door County Medical Center.

She was born on January 22, 1915 in Sevastopol, Door County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Ella (Thenell) Pagenkopf. In 1918 her family moved to a farm in Egg Harbor. Mildred resided in Egg Harbor Township for over 78 years. She attended grade school and two years of high school at Sunny Point.

On October 14, 1936 she married Walter Leimbach at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport, and they resided in Carlsville, Town of Egg Harbor, until moving to Sturgeon Bay in 1996. Walter preceded her in death on February 10, 1998. She worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for many years, the majority with Alton Krueger Plumbing and Heating in Carlsville.

Mildred is a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, serving as a Ladies Aid officer for many years. Her faith and church family at Zion were very important to her. She was also a member of A.A.L. and the Golden Agers Card Club.

Mildred is survived by her nephews, Lawrence Pagenkopf of Wausaukee, Leslie (Rhonda) Pagenkopf of Algoma, William Hendrickson of Algoma, Steven Hendrickson of South Dakota, Steven Schopf of Sturgeon Bay; her goddaughter and niece Sharon (Roger) Dunks, Luxemburg; and niece, Marcia Hendrickson of Sturgeon Bay; several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Margaret Franke of Sister Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Leimbach; two brothers, Everett and Harold; and goddaughter, Chloe Schopf.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport with Pastor Peter Lindemann officiating. Burial will be made at Bayside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. Huehns Funeral Home is assisting the family.
