William Joseph Wizner, 83, of Sturgeon Bay, died early Monday morning, February 3, 2014, at Golden Living Center-Dorchester.
He was born February 15, 1930, in Algoma, the son of the late Anton “Tony” and Regina (Kiehl) Wizner. Bill attended Algoma High School and went on to serve his country with the U.S. Merchant Marines (associated with the U.S. Coast Guard). After serving, Bill owned and operated his own trucking business for over 36 years, transporting iron and steel between Minneapolis and Chicago.
On May 27, 1983, Bill was united in marriage to Sally Jean Jordan in Waukegan, IL. They moved to Door County in 1992. Bill and Sally enjoyed dancing together “wherever you could find a band.” Bill also appreciated a good Manhattan. When he wasn’t dancing, he liked to go hunting and fishing.
Bill will be missed by his wife, Sally of Sturgeon Bay; his son, Randy (Sue) Wizner of Brookfield; Sally’s son, Troy (Teresa) Jackson (and their children Samantha and Aaron) of Columbus, OH; his daughter’s (Sandra Donovan’s) daughter, Dee Ann (Scott) (and their son Riley) of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters-in-law, Andra (Verl) Sims, Penny (Bill) Leffler; and brother-in-law, Steve (Judy) Jordan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra; brother, Willard Wizner; and sister, Joan (Roy) Baumann.
Service arrangements are pending for a later date.
