David Mann, 74, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Feb. 4, 2014, at Golden Living Center Dorchester, Sturgeon Bay. He was born on Jan. 23, 1940, in Hinsdale, IL to Forrest and Sarah Mann. David operated M.M.C. Machine in Hinsdale, Milwaukee, and Sturgeon Bay for many years.
David was an avid sailor who enjoyed the waters of Door County. After many years of sailing he became interested in antique boats. He restored several classic Chris Crafts and participated in many local wooden boat shows. David was a fun loving guy with many friends. If you remember “The Rock” (now called Alexanders) in Fish Creek you were probably served at the bar by David in his bartender days.
Survivors include Karen Cowan, longtime partner, Sturgeon Bay; three brothers, Forrest Allen Mann Jr., Clarendon Hills, IL; Fred Mann, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Stephen Mann, Sturgeon Bay; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peters Ev. Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be that day from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service with the Rev. Darrick Kolterjahn officiating. A luncheon at the Mill Supper Club will immediately follow the service. Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
