Kenneth H. Siegmund

Kenneth H. Siegmund, 87, of Kewaunee died on Sunday, May 4, 2014 of kidney failure at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in West Kewaunee on October 27, 1926 to the late Walter Sr. and Alma (Hannmann) Siegmund.

He married Lois Reckelberg on July 12, 1958 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier.

He served in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S. Bolivar. Following service he worked at Hamilton Mfg. and later purchased and operated a Lake to Lake milk hauling route until retiring. After retiring, he daily commuted to the Siegmund family farm on his bicycle to assist with the farm operations.

He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Kewaunee and served on various committees. He was a member of American Legion Post 29 of Kewaunee and a member of Concerned Hearts. He was a very loyal and avid Packer fan, holding season tickets from the old East Stadium until now as well as a Milwaukee Brewers and Badgers fan. He had a large collection of memorabilia from all of the teams. He loved polka music, to play Sheepshead and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife: Lois; one daughter and son-in-law: Lori and Kevin Kadletz, Pilsen; two sons and daughters-in-law: Keith (Ziggy) and Laura Siegmund, Krok; Brent and Ann Siegmund, Brookfield; four loving grandchildren: Emma, Lexi, Ashlee and Ella; one brother and sister-in-law: Lyle and Lois Siegmund, Kewaunee; three sisters and one brother-in-law: Leona Breitlow, Algoma; Marian Gaedtke, Montpelier; Sandy and Art Schweiner, Denmark; a sister-in-law: Ruth Siegmund, Kewaunee; two brothers-in-law: Carl (Joyce) Reckelberg, Denmark; Gordon (Sally) Reckelberg, Luxemburg; five sisters-in-law: Bernice Reckelberg, Casco; Dolores Reckelberg, Luxemburg; Dorothy (Harlan) Tess; Phyllis (William) Erichsen; LaVerne (Leon) Dax, all of Kewaunee; two Aunts: Joyce Hannmann, Green Bay; Violet Mae Hannmann, Casco; also many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter Jr. (Frieda); John and Lynn Siegmund; two brothers-in-law: Harold Reckelberg; William Reckelberg Jr.; a sister-in-law: Delores Reckelberg and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: William Sr. and Martha Reckelberg.

Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. American Legion Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continues on Saturday at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church after 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Riverview Cemetery.
