George F. LeClair, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Jacksonport, died Tuesday (June 10, 2014) at Golden Living Center/Dorchester where he had resided the past seven years.
George was born May 18, 1931 in Jacksonport, the son of the late Engelbert and Sophia (Propsom) LeClair. After graduating from Sevastopol High School in 1949 he served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a commercial fisherman, operating out of Jacksonport, with his father and brother, Joe LeClair. George also had worked for 18 years in Beloit as a machinist, and in retirement drove locally for Medi-Van. George loved gardening, being in the outdoors with nature, going to garage and rummage sales.
Survivors include his brother, Joe LeClair of Jacksonport; sister, Kate Onan of Wausau; many dear nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Engelbert and Sophia LeClair; dear friend, Barbara Carlson; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, John (Helen), Gilbert (LaVerne), Louis, Robert (Joanne), Richard (Helen); one sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Don) Fagerstrom; brother-in-law, Colin Onan; sister-in-law, Melda LeClair.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday (June 17, 2014) at Stella Maris Parish, Jacksonport site, with Fr. David Ruby officiating.
Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at 6:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made in his memory for Amvets Post #51 of Sturgeon Bay.
