While at his home surrounded by his family, George L. Bauer, 69, of Carlsville, was called by the Lord to his heavenly home, Saturday (June 21, 2014) following a long illness with COPD.
He was born August 25, 1944 in Green Bay, the son of the late Anthony and Cecelia (Schneider) Bauer. George graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1962. On October 23, 1976 he married Carolyn Flok at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport.
George worked as a steamfitter for Union Local 400. His major work sites were in the Green Bay area and the Nuclear Power Plants near Manitowoc.
He was a life member of the NRA, a member of the Door County Rod and Gun Club, and the Titans Motorcycle Club. George loved being in the outdoors. He enjoyed turkey hunting, trapping with his dog, and ice fishing. He was a story teller who had a terrific sense of humor, and was known as a prankster among family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn; two sons, John (Anne) of Suamico, Mike (Amy) of Carlsville; two daughters, Anna (Jesse) Bourdeau of Green Bay, Brenda (Jeff) Romanelli of Winchester; three grandchildren, Vincent and James Romanelli, and John Bauer; sister, Sharon “Judy” (Joe) Renard of Sturgeon Bay; and his dear mother-in-law, Irene Vertz of Sturgeon Bay.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Anthony and Cicelia Bauer; sister, Doris Blomquist; grandson, Tony Bauer; and granddaughter, Sarah Bauer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, (June 27, 2014) at Huehns Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Lindemann pastor of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport officiating.
Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given in his memory to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church or School in West Jacksonport, or to Home Health, or Unity Hospice.
