Helen Mary Knipfer of Sturgeon Bay passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Door County Ministry Health Care surrounded by her family. She was born on May 2, 1927, to Walter and Edith Kramer. In 1947, she married Dennis Knipfer. After 65 years of marriage, he preceded her in death in October, 2012.
Helen devoted her life to raising her seven children. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening.
She is survived by daughters, Vicki (John) Goettelman, Cindy Goettelman, Connie (Chris) Larsen, Edie (Rich) Norenberg; sons, James (Cathy), Tom (Ellen) and Paul Knipfer, 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, a brother, Jim Kramer and sister-in-law, Vi Knipfer, both of Sturgeon Bay, and sister-in-law, Helen Kelnhofer of Lacy, Washington.
Her parents, husband, sisters, Gwen Bushman and Mary Stange, and son-in-law, Bill Goettelman preceded her in death.
A memorial mass celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014, at St. Joseph Church. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
