Bernice L. Lang

Bernice L. Lang, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Woodside Lutheran Nursing Home in Green Bay, on Sept. 16, 2012. She was born on March 2, 1921, in Milwaukee, to Arthur and Marion Gehlen. Bernice was the beloved wife and best friend of Howard F. Lang who preceded her in death on May 22, 2000. They were married for 57 years.

Family was very important to Bernice and her husband. She served as a Girl Scout leader in Milwaukee to 21 girls for 5 years which led her to a career as a school secretary at Park View Elementary School in Milwaukee. She retired in 1981 after 23 enjoyable years with the Park View teachers, staff, parents, and students. Bernice was also a Cub Scout leader.

Survivors include her children, Sharon (Dr. Thomas) Sager, Green Bay; and Howard (Marilyn) Lang, Sturgeon Bay; 6 grandchildren, Keith (Erin) Sager, Scott Sager (and friend, Jackie), Kimberly (William) Kortens, Kevin (Kayla) Lang, Kathryn (Mark) Maciejewski, and Kyle Lang (and friend, Cheryl); 8 great-grandchildren, two great-grand-foster children; 2 sisters-in-law, Lois Koeske and Jean Lang; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Dorothy Gehlen; other in-laws, Tom Koeske, Russell Lang, Muriel and John Krajnak.

A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Church on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to Corpus Christi Church. Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
