Elizabeth "Betty" Vlies, 80, Kewaunee, formerly of Algoma, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center, Green Bay. She was born July 23, 1932 in Kewaunee to George and Bessie (Pavlat) Picha.
Betty married Ralph Vlies July 2, 1955 in Algoma at St. Mary Catholic Church. Betty was a stay at home mom and took care of her four children. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.
Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ralph, four children Dennis (Sandra) Vlies, Terry Vlies, Mike Vlies, and Lori (Scott) Lischka; six grandchildren Alex Vlies(special friend Marge), Samantha Vlies, Nick Lischka, Ashley Lischka, Amanda (Chad) Thiry and Josh (Erin) McGinnis; four great grandchildren Brittney and Macey Vlies and Olivia and Bryce Thiry.
Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 and then after 9 am Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Prayer service 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastoral Minister Kathy Zeman. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Emerald Shores Assisted Living Center in Kewaunee for all the care and kindness given to Betty during her stay there.
