Helen J. Tumey, 91 years, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Detroit, Michigan passed away early Monday morning (November 26, 2012) at Whispering Winds CBRF in Sturgeon Bay.
She was born August 28, 1921 in Collinsville, Illinois the daughter of the late Christopher and Martha (Loben) Carvell. Helen graduated from Cass Tech High School in Detroit, Michigan. She married Edward Leroy Tumey in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 1994. Her children, family and home meant everything to her. Helen loved to read, sew and quilt.
Survivors include her three daughters and son, Jacquelyn (Fred) Nazar of Sturgeon Bay, Gregory (JoAnn) Tumey of Auburn Hills, Michigan, Peggy (Jim) Heinlein of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Nancy (Larry) Costello of Peachtree City, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; son-in-law, Jim Clark of Escanaba, Michigan; sister-in-law, Rita Carvell of Michigan.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Christopher and Martha Carvell; husband, Edward Tumey; daughter, Patricia Clark; and brother, John Carvell.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning (December 2, 2012) at Huehns Funeral Home. Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Sunday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Curtis, Michigan.
