Juozas 'Joe' Sidauga

Joe Sidauga, 91 years, of Sturgeon Bay, died Sunday afternoon (December 9, 2012) while at Whispering Heights.

He was born September 18, 1921 in Lithuania. Joe worked for the U.S. Military Police following WWII in the Displaced Persons Camps. He met his wife in the camps and married Johanna Lobada on January 26, 1948. They immigrated to the United States in 1949. Joe worked for Sturgeon Bay Dry-dock, Christy Corp., and Bay Shipbuilding.

Joe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and Boiler Makers Union Local 449. He enjoyed watching westerns on TV, fishing off Roen’s dock, growing Japanese Lanterns along with flowers in his garden and selling them at the farmers market, and being with his dog Winston.

Survivors include his two children, son, Michael (Elizabeth) Sidauga of Lebanon, Pennsylvania; daughter, Anastasia (Gary) Hendricks of Sturgeon Bay; six grandchildren, Eric and Kevin Sidauga, Steve Hartwig, Teri (Geno) Dennis, Kay (Tony) Dennis, Sara (Eric) Bottoms; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; and two brothers, Alphonse and Frank.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (December 13, 2012) at Huehns Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5:00 to the time of service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Huehns Funeral Home. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
