Peter M. Propsom, 70 years, of Saxon, WI, died Saturday (December 15, 2012) at Ministry-Door County Medical Center.
He was born July 25, 1942 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Ralph and Alice (Glomstad) Propsom. Following his graduation from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1960 he attended and graduated from St. Norbert College in 1964. Peter served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967 with duty that included the DMZ in Korea for 13 months, and Ft. Carson, CO.
A career in sales started with Standard Oil of Indiana in 1967, then Pitney-Bowes in 1969 before he started his successful real estate sales career with Starr Realty. He had participated in the development at Purves Lagoon before moving to Florida where he worked with an independent promotion company for offshore boat racing. He lived in Jacksonville Beach, Florida for 20 years before moving back to Sturgeon Bay.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Peter enjoyed time spent with his sons at their hunting cabin in Iron County, Wisconsin. He loved his sons and their families. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and baseball (especially coaching his sons and watching high school baseball games). Fishing with friends and family on Lake Michigan were some of his fondest memories. Peter helped in the fundraising efforts for the press box at Memorial Field. He loved spending time at the family cottage on Clarks Lake.
Survivors include his two sons, Matthew (Rebekah) Propsom of Sturgeon Bay, Michael (Jennifer) Propsom of Plymouth, Minnesota; his sons’ mother, Cherie Boudwin; five grandchildren, Mason, Madeline, Ellie, Tyler, Andrew; sister, Judy (Roger) Nash of Wauwatosa; brother, John (Ruth) Propsom of Sturgeon Bay; and special niece, Cheryl (Jay) Ellioff.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ralph and Alice Propsom.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date in 2013.
