Shirley R. McKee, 87, of Sturgeon Bay, left this earth Sunday afternoon, December 30, 2012, at Whispering Pines CBRF.
Her parents, Hans and Signe (Bakke) Syverud, immigrated to the United States from Norway. Shirley was born March 18, 1925, in Winthrop Harbor, IL. She graduated from high school in Zion, IL. On July 26, 1947, Shirley was united in marriage to Howard McKee in Milwaukee, WI.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Sturgeon Bay. Shirley also enjoyed being a part of the Sons of Norway, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Business Women, all in Sturgeon Bay.
Shirley had a love for nature and animals, both wild and tame. She also liked decorating her home. In her later years, Shirley enjoyed knitting scarves for others.
She will dearly missed by her daughters, Susan (Ken) Schodron, and Kay Stack; son, Ray (Denise) McKee; six grandchildren, Ken (Desiree) Schodron, Julie (Eric) Wenger, Kelly Schodron, Michael (Rene) Stack, Amy (David) Baden, and Paul Stack; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Solveig Pedersen, and Evelyn (Ken) Holmberg; and sister-in-law, Lorayne Gehringer.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Pedersen, Paul Capp, and Jack Gehringer.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in spring of 2013. Interment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI.
Memorials may be made in her name to Sevastopol schools, St. Vincent de Paul, or Unity Hospice.
