Elaine Ann Polich, 84, of Highway 57, Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away early Sunday morning (February 3, 2013) in the comfort of her home with family at her side.
She was born May 17, 1928, in Sturgeon Bay to Joseph and Irene (DeLille) Gillick. Elaine graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1946. That fall, on November 30, she was united in marriage to Martin Polich at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Together, Elaine and Martin were the second generation to own and operate the farm on the corner of Highways 42 & 57 in the town of Sevastopol. Martin preceded her in death on January 16, 2008.
Elaine was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, and Country Circle Homemakers. Both Elaine and Martin were members of Country Dancers Square Dance Group and avid card players. She also enjoyed quilting, watching EWTN, Polkas, and working with the Sevastopol 4-H group.
Elaine will be deeply missed by her three children, Monica (Kerry) Field of Lakeville, MN, Peter (Val) Polich of Sturgeon Bay, and Tony Polich of Egg Harbor, WI; six grandchildren, Kearney (Matt) Burns, Michelle (Ian) Schuster, Jessica (special friend, Jeremy Lockhart) Polich, Hillary (Brent) Sandrock, Michael (Katie) Polich, and Jonathan Polich; four great-grandchildren, Harper Burns, Finian Burns, Joseph Polich, and Jackson Polich; sister-in-law, Frieda Polich of Madison, WI, and other relatives; and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin; brothers, Theodore (Elsie) Gillick, John (Agnes) Gillick, and Verner (Jeanette) Gillick; and daughter-in-law, Resa Polich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at S. S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute with Rev. Robert Konkol OFM as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to either DOOR CANcer or Unity Hospice.
