Janet Mae Van Duyse, 78 years, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center in Green Bay.
She was born September 1, 1934, in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Alice (Cumber) Marx. Janet graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1952. On July 23, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert Van Duyse at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay.
Janet worked at the Kid’s Club after school program for over 20 years, retiring in 2010. She loved animals, gardening, knitting, and cross stitching. Janet volunteered at Pine Crest Village, helping with craft projects for several years.
Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Janet had a positive outlook on life and always believed “the glass was half full.” Even during the darkest of days, she knew “the sun was going to shine tomorrow, and it’ll be better.” Janet didn’t believe in the word, hate. She liked to use “dislike immensely” for something she didn’t agree with. Janet’s life reminded us all to smile and laugh, and most importantly, to love others.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” Van Duyse of Sturgeon Bay; three daughters, Barbara Van Duyse of Sturgeon Bay, Roberta Van Duyse of Milwaukee, Alison (Nick) Walker of Sturgeon Bay; five grandchildren, Alyssa and Jordan Huber, Jonathon, and twins, Ashley and Danielle Allie; brother, Roger “Bucky” (Dolores) Marx of Escondido, CA; her best friends, Susie Tenor and Phyllis Busby, both of Sturgeon Bay; her dog Sammi, and cat Deckie.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents.
