Martha J. Lambiotte

Martha Jane Lambiotte, 95, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Wednesday evening, February 27, 2013 at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay.

She was born on December 17, 1917 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Frank Black and Josephine Isabelle (O’Neil) Lyon. After graduating from Antigo High School in 1935, she attended Lawrence University, graduating in 1939. Martha later finished her graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Following her education, Martha taught at various locations including schools in Brillion and Janesville WI; G-I College in Farragut, Idaho; Great Falls, Montana; Buchanan, Michigan; and 12 years at Rockford Public Schools in Rockford, Illinois.

On June 12, 1954, Martha married Joseph A. Lambiotte at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1995.

Martha was a member of the American Federation of Teachers, Rockford Creative Writers Club, Door County Writers Club, and the Door County Democratic Party. As a writer, Martha enjoyed writing short stories, poems and had a novel published.

Survivors include her two sons, Gregory (Jane) Lambiotte of Green Bay, Jack Lambiotte of Denver, CO; three daughters, JoAnn Villasenor of Chicago, IL, Laura Fromm of Rockford, IL, Terri Lambiotte of Sturgeon Bay; step-son, Roch (Linda) Lambiotte of La Crescenta, CA; five grandchildren, David, Robert, Daniel Villasenor, and Kiersten, Liam Fromm; two step-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Michael Fromm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday (March 1, 2013) at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Fr. Carl Schmitt as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery in Jacksonport.

Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until closing prayers at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made in her memory to St. John Bosco Catholic School.

As Martha’s family we would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of Care for All Ages, Bellin Hospital, and Unity Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to our mother.
