Ralph Roth, 86, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on February 28, 2013. He was born on November 12, 1926, in Carlsville to Andrew and Edna (Schultz) Roth. Ralph lived in Carlsville until about the age of ten and at that time the family moved to Green Bay. On November 18, 1943, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific. World War II was going on at that time and he worked as a radio operator. He was discharged on February 15, 1947. He went to MSOE, received the status of an electronic technician and went to work for Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company in Milwaukee. On January 2, 1951, he was recalled to active duty in the Korean War. He was discharged on February 11, 1952. He continued to work for Wisconsin Bell in Green Bay.
On February 14, 1953, he married Arbutus Blom at Trinity Lutheran Church in Green Bay. They lived in Green Bay until 1957, when they relocated to Sturgeon Bay. Ralph continued to work for the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for a total of 38 years. He retired in August 1986, and enjoyed a great retirement. For 20 years they enjoyed spending the winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. His interests in life included dancing, gardening, card playing, following the Packers and Brewers. He was a member of the American Legion Post #72 of Sturgeon Bay and a long-time and active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Arbutus (Arby), his daughters, Charlene (Mike) Brauer, Sturgeon Bay; Debra (Dale) Kinney, Plover; Candace Roth, Fond du Lac; and Cheryl (Randy) Wilke, Sturgeon Bay; twelve grandchildren, Erin, Adam, Andrew and Alex Brauer; Katie and Anthony Worzalla; Kyle, Kirk, Kayla & Kendra Wilke; and Renee & Claire Kinney; seven great-grandchildren; in-laws, Roger (Shirley) Blom, Wausau; Wally (Grace) Blom, Green Bay; Bev Blom, Coleman; Lee (Karen) Blom, Green Bay; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother & father-in-law, Lawrence & Louise Blom, and a brother-in-law, Larry Blom.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Sauer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.forbesfuneralhome.com.
