Richard M. Simonar

Richard M. Simonar, 81 of Luxemburg, was called to eternal life early Saturday morning, December 08, 2018.  He was born in Luxemburg to the late John “Jack” and Irene (Martin) Simonar on April 22, 1937. He graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1957, where he met the love of life, Judith J. Maloney.  They were married on May 09, 1959 at St. Mary Church, where he was a lifelong member. Richard served in the US Army Reserve following high school.  He began his lifelong career with his brothers when they took over Simonar Service in 1955. He held a love for photography and woodworking.  Handcrafting frames to display and gifting photos he had taken.  Richard cherished his time at Peco Oaks riding the snowmobile trails on his Ski Doo Alpine. This is where he began his passion for making maple syrup.  He also looked forward to running his saw mill at Ag Heritage Days at the fairgrounds every September. Richard was a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262, Luxemburg and a member of the Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce, receiving the Man of The Year Award in 1990.  His special love was for his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

 

Survivors include his wife of nearly sixty years, Judy and their nine children, Lisa Matchopatow, Tod (Annette) Simonar, Paul (Karen) Simonar, Rick (Paula) Simonar, BJ (Shannon) Simonar, all of Luxemburg; Rob (Sadie) Simonar, Suamico; Jim (Beth) Simonar, Luxemburg; Eric (Jenny) Simonar, Mark (Mel) Simonar, all of Casco; twenty grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Carol) Simonar, Luxemburg, three sisters in law, Faye Kuchta, Barbara Shegonee, Rose Simonar, all of Green Bay; three brothers in law, Louis Kuchta, Green Bay; Bing Buettner, Krakow; John Maloney, Green Bay; numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by, two brothers and one sister in law, Norbert Simonar, Leroy and Pat Simonar; one brother in law, Richard Kuchta; four sisters in law, Gwen Kuchta, Tina Buettner, Gin Maloney, Sandy Maloney; his father in law and mother in law, Ross and Alice Maloney.

 

Friends may call at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2018.  Closing combined parish prayer service with Deacon Bob Miller and the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262, Luxemburg, honor service. Visitation will continue on Thursday, December 13, 2018 between 9:00 and 10:30 am at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Funeral 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. Daniel Schuster celebrating and Rev. Milton Suess concelebrating.  Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg, with full military rites at graveside.
