Marie De Jardin

Marie A. De Jardin, 88, formerly of Luxemburg, passed away in the early evening of Good Friday, April 2, 2021, surrounded by family at Oak Creek Assisted Living in Algoma.

 

She was born in Luxemburg on June 17, 1932, to the late Joseph and Josephine (Melera) Hoffman.  She was a graduate of Luxemburg High School.  On May 18, 1955 Marie married Marvin T. De Jardin at St. Mary Church in Luxemburg.  He preceded her in death July 10, 1976.

 

Marie was a devoted and loving farmer’s wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend.  She held several jobs in her life including telephone operator, a baker at Stodola’s IGA in Luxemburg and a cook for St. Mary Catholic School, Luxemburg.  A lifelong member of St. Mary Church and the Christian Mother Society she also belonged to the local Homemakers Club.

 

Her enjoyments included, playing cards, cooking and baking, polka dancing with the Happy Hoppers Club, snowmobiling, crocheting and quilting.  She most enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

 

Survivors include her five children, Tim (Bev) De Jardin, Theresa (Glenn) Dart, Deb (Robert) Obry, Lori VandenBush, Ted (Allison) De Jardin; 12 grandchildren, Ken (Mary) De Jardin, Ellie (Chuck) Kunesh, Jeremy Dart, Justin (Ashley) Dart, Joseph (Candis) Dart, Jeffrey (Kim) Dart, B.J. (Jenny) Obry, Mindy (David) Popke, Joshua (fiancée’ Nicole) VandenBush, Aaron (Kia) VandenBush, Theo De Jardin, Phillip De Jardin; 13 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way).

 

She is also survived by her sister, Marlene (Joe) Ropson; brother, Dave (Linda) Hoffman; stepsister, Geraldine Delebreau; brothers in law and sisters in law, Betty (Roger) Schroeder, Judy Watzka, Sharon (Chuck) Bergner, Mary Loberblatt, Paula De Jardin, Julian Romuald, Wayne (Judy) De Jardin, Dennis (Bonnie) De Jardin, Steve (Kathy) De Jardin; her very dear friend, Elaine DeGrave; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband along with Claudia and Adolph Hoffman “Ma and Pa”; brothers and sisters in law, John “Jack” (Carol) Hoffman, Peter Hoffman; stepfather, Fabian La Crosse; brothers in law and sisters in law, Bernice (Herbie) Duescher, Cletus De Jardin, Joan Romuald, Marcella (Lawrence) Thiry, John Delebreau.  Friends may call between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg.  Funeral 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating.  Entombment to follow at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
