Kay A. Schmidt

Kay A. Schmidt, 79, New Franken, formerly of Maplewood, passed away, Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Anna's House in New Franken with her family at her side.  She was born October 13, 1943, in Algoma to Anthony and Lois (Zastrow) Blahnik.
Kay graduated from the Algoma High School in 1961.
Kay married Adrian (Ace) Schmidt Jr., August 25, 1962.  Kay helped on the family farm and worked in sales, with her favorite being the custom jewelry trade.  
Kay enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren, her flower gardens, cooking, decorating, Christmas, entertaining, loved working with her customers to ensure they received the perfect piece of jewelry and enjoyed her occasional Manhattan or Old Fashioned or two.
Kay is survived by her husband, Adrian (Ace), her daughter Debbie (Terry) Kleiman, and her son Randy (Dena) Schmidt; five grandchildren, Derek (Kayla) Schopf, Ashtyn Feld (fiance'e Kevin), Tanner (Lauren) Schmidt, Kahner (Joe) Domke and Devin Schmidt; step grandchildren Spencer (Elisabeth) Kleiman and Marie Kleiman; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, Toni (Randy) Massart, Tom Blahnik and Becky (William) Hann; many nieces and nephews.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Lois, sisters Sandra Blahnik and Mary Jo Laurent, brother Joe Blahnik, brothers-in-law Tony Laurent and Richard Zajac.
The public is invited to a memorial gathering, Sunday, November 6, 2022, at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 1:00 PM with Pastor Alex Blahnik officiating.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials may be made out to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Anna's House in New Franken, Bristol Hospice for all the care, compassion and kindness given to Kay and her family and the Schinderle Funeral Home,  who were entrusted with the arrangements for Kay and her family.
