Janice L. Petersilka

Janice L. Petersilka, 93, formerly of the Town of Sevastopol, was called Home, early Wednesday morning, June 21, 2023 at the Pete and Jelaine Horton Center Skilled Nursing Center in Sturgeon Bay.

     She was born on April 19, 1930 in Sturgeon Bay, the daughter of John and Lillian (Stephenson) Walker. Janice graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1948.

     On July 9, 1949, Janice married Donald Milton Petersilka, Sr. at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute where they remained members.

     Janice was a beautician in Sturgeon Bay and worked for C&S Manufacturing prior to Donald and Janice purchasing The Mill Supper Club in 1976, and continued to enjoy seeing friends they made.

     They were blessed with over 67 years of marriage. Donald passed away December 24, 2016.

     Janice had a passion for gardening and loved to spend time in her vegetable and beautiful flower gardens. She also loved to bake and always made Angel Food cake for every birthday, along with many cookies to be shared with her children and their coworkers.

     Janice’s love will live on in the hearts of her three children, Don Jr. (Shelly) Petersilka (and their children, Allison (Kevin) Lauder [and their sons, Max, Reece, and Griffin], Donald III, and Anna (Kevin) Medzis; Jeff Petersilka (and his children, Brandon, Nicole (Ryan) Zelinski [and their children, Lolah and Wyatt]); Lynn (Ron) Hedsand (and their daughters, Ashley (Markus) Tassoul [and their children, Briggs and Ashlynn], and Amber (Brent) Ryland); sisters-in-law, Dorothy Walker and Sharon Petersilka; and many dear nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, David John; sisters, Fay Dolphin, Fern Anderson, Pansy Deutsch, Winnifred Potier, Ella Schartner; brothers, Chuck Walker, Wayne Walker, and Emery Walker, brother-in-law, Ronald Petersilka; and sisters-in-law, Helen (John) Collins, and Lois (Robert) Hunt.

     Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with Fr. Robert Stegmann as celebrant.

     Janice will be laid to rest in S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Institute, beside her husband, Donald..

     The family would like to thank the staff at the Skilled Nursing Facility for the wonderful care provided for Janice.
