Less than a year ago, the Luxemburg-Casco wrestling team managed to reach the pinnacle of success with a thrilling 30-28 victory over Ellsworth in the finals of the state championship. However, the Spartans are not resting for a second as they look to repeat that accomplishment and win their fourth state championship in seven years. The team is returning several key participants from last season, including several parts of a strong lightweight core that was essential to taking home the title. That core will include senior Bryce Bosman, a three-time state champion at the individual level. He explained how having so many state-level wrestlers on one team has helped him improve over his time at Luxemburg-Casco.
Perhaps also helping out the Spartans is the overall level of competition they face within their own conference. Head coach Chas Treml says he and the other coaches of the Northeastern Conference agree that there might not be better wrestling anywhere else in the state.
The Spartans will begin their 2018-2019 season Thursday with a dual meet against conference foe Wrightstown. They will also be in action this weekend when they host Bay Port, Green Bay Preble, and Sheboygan Falls.
