Southern Door honoring basketball alumni

With the Southern Door boys’ basketball team claiming its record-tying 28th straight Packerland Conference victory Tuesday, the district has decided to reach out to the last team to do that same feat. The 1983-84 and 1984-85 teams have been invited back to Southern Door to be honored before the varsity tip-off on Friday against Peshtigo. Korey Mallien, activities director at Southern Door, said he’d like the word to spread quickly in the last couple of days before the game.

Southern Door is currently 4-2 on the season, with both losses coming against non-conference opponents. The district plans to honor wrestling alumni next week before their match with Two Rivers.

Players of the dominant 1980’s teams were: Greg Dantoin, Paul Antonissen, Scott Mauer, Dan Dantoin, Don Birmingham, Jeff DeJardin, Pete Claflin, Chris Delarwelle, Mike Price, Rob Conlon, Marty Marchant, Mark LeCaptain, Joe Pierre, Dean Seigworth, Steve Bretl, Mike Barker, Cory Lardinois, Kevin Brauer, Ken Dantoin, and head coach Bob Kinziger and assistant coach Jim Zellmer.
