The Southern Door Eagles hung on and defeated the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans 75-71 at home Thursday night in a non-conference game. The Eagles led by as much as 15 points in the first half before the Spartans were able to close to within 39-33 at intermisison. Ryan Robillard scored 15 of his team-high 20 points to keep L-C in the game even with Nathan Coisman sitting out the game with an ankle injury.
The Spartans came out in the second half on fire and took a 49-45 lead with about 12 minutes left in the game. Southern Door (6-2) responded quickly to retake the lead and then converted on 12 of 15 free throws down the stretch to come away with the hard-fought victory. The Eagles were led by Ryan Claflin and Kyle Daoust who scored 27 and 26 points, respectively. Daoust hit 7-7 free throws in the last two minutes to salt the game away.
Luxemburg-Casco (5-3 overall) will travel to Freedom in a Northeastern Conference game Friday night . The next L-C boys game broadcast on 96.7FM WBDK will be next Friday, January 11 at home against Marinette.
