The Gibraltar girls basketball team is one of the teams to beat this season in the Packerland Conference. Winners of five straight conference games, the Vikings have adjusted brilliantly into the midseason despite an 0-2 conference start. Several of those wins have come against teams at or near the top of the conference, including Southern Door and Peshtigo. Head coach Josh Kropuenske said team morale is much higher than what he saw at the beginning of the season. He also said the team has turned things around after settling into new roles at the beginning of the season.
Gibraltar will be tested in the next few weeks. On Monday, the Vikings will face a conference rival in Sturgeon Bay, before taking on conference leaders Kewaunee and Algoma in consecutive contests. The Storm and the Wolves are a combined 15-1 in Packerland Conference play this season.
