Gibraltar establishes themselves with 52-34 win over Algoma

The Gibraltar Vikings (10-4, 8-2) girls basketball team made a statement on  Friday evening, handing the Algoma Wolves (10-5, 7-2) 52-34 to claim second place in the Packerland Conference. Head coach Josh Kropuenske said was extremely pleased with the way his team followed the game plan, which led to some great defensive stops and limited the number of open shooters that Algoma was able to create. He also said the defensive effort overall was one of the best he’s seen from the team this season.

Payton Pluff and Abby Sitte led the way for the Vikings with 19 and 13 points respectively. Makayla Guilette turned in another solid effort for the Wolves, putting up a 13-point performance. Gibraltar will take a week off coinciding with the school district’s finals week before coming back to the court Monday to face the Packerland Conference leader in Kewaunee.
