Week without games brings pros and cons for Gibraltar girls

Following their 52-34 victory over Algoma last Friday, the Gibraltar girls basketball team will not return to the court for yet another week. No games are scheduled for the Vikings during the week of January 21st, and while other Packerland Conference teams will be facing off against one another, the girls will be studying for finals instead. Head coach Josh Kropuenske recognizes both the pros and cons of sitting out for an entire week. Although he recognized that playing no games could potentially ice the red-hot Vikings, he also pointed out that finals week has never been the best week for his team.

When the Vikings (10-4, 8-2) return to action next Monday, they’ll have to hope they can avoid being rusty in a game-like situation. The team will face off against a very talented Kewaunee (14-1, 10-0) squad that last defeated Sturgeon Bay by a 44-point margin.
