Strong pitching, pesky bats key Sturgeon Bay run

Sturgeon Bay coach John Berns compares his regional champion Clippers a lot to his 2002 Sevastopol Pioneers team, but only a little bit better. Both teams won 20 games, featured great pitching and a knack for getting on base. Berns says this team is better because they have a strong third arm in their rotation behind Trent Ehlers and Jake Schneider with Issac Berkley. He also credits his assistant coach Kent Berkley with helping raise the team’s baseball IQ at the plate. Berkley says situational hitting has been key.

The Clippers run at a Division 3 title begins at 12:30 p.m. in Random Lake against Winnebago Lutheran. That game can be heard on 910 AM. You can find even more coverage on this game at DoorKewauneeHighSchoolSports.com.
