Thames unloads game winner against Pirates

The first half of the Milwaukee Brewers' season came to a dramatic end Sunday afternoon courtesy of Eric Thames' bat in a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Melky Cabrera drove in the game's first run with a single against Zach Davies in the first inning, a tally Davies would get right back himself with an RBI knock of his own to make it 1-1after four innings. It would stay that way until the eighth inning when Thames led things off with a solo home run. Jeremy Jeffress nailed things down in the ninth on a game-ending double play.

Things only got better after the game ended after a Cubs loss leaves both teams in first place while Josh Hader, Mike Moustakas, and Yasmani Grandal learned they would join teammate Christian Yelich for the 2019 MLB All Star Game next Tuesday in Cleveland.
