A pair of home runs was not enough for the Brewers to avoid a sweep against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday afternoon. Christian Yelich got the scoring started in the game with a solo opposite-field homer in the first inning. It was his Major League-leading 37th home run on the season. The Cubs answered in the bottom of the first as the first pitch thrown by Brewers starter Adrian Houser was deposited into the centerfield seats by Jason Heyward. Heyward would add an RBI triple in the second to give the Cubs a lead they would never relinquish as they went on to win 7-2. The only other bright spot for the Brewers was rookie Trent Grisham hitting his first Major League home run in the eighth inning.
Milwaukee is now four games behind the Cubs for first place in the National League Central Division. The Brewers are also two games out of the second Wild Card spot behind the Nationals and Phillies.
Milwaukee will begin a three-game series in Pittsburgh Monday night, first pitch at 6:05 PM.
