Christian Yelich's power numbers continue to climb after the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday 9-7. Yelich hit the first of his two home runs in the opening frame and was later matched by Mike Moustakas' 27th of the year in the fourth inning. In that same inning, Jordan Lyles had an RBI groundout and Trent Grisham continued the hit parade with a run-scoring knock of his own to make it 5-0. The Pirates had it to within two runs when Eric Thames, Orlando Arcia, and Grisham knocking in single tallies to stretch the lead to 8-3. Yelich's ninth-inning home run was important insurance for the Brewers as a bases-clearing double by Kevin Newman in the eighth inning and a triple by Starling Marte in the ninth added some drama, but Josh Hader was able to eventually nail down his 25th save of the season.
The Brewers and the Pirates play game two Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m.
