You could feel the tension at Miller Park Thursday afternoon. The visiting Twins have let a big early-season cushion in the AL Central dwindle to a half game ahead of Cleveland. The hometown Brewers are fighting tooth and nail for a NL playoff spot. Both teams needed this game desperately and it looked like the Twins were on track for a two-game sweep. Milwaukee starter Gio Gonzalez couldn't get out of the fourth inning, giving up five earned runs.
Heading to the bottom of the eighth, it was still 5-3 Minnesota before the Brew Crew made their comeback. Trent Grisham hit his second career homer, a three-run shot that put the Brewers up 6-5. Left-handed specialist Alex Claudio and Matt Albers combined for a clean ninth inning to secure the victory. Milwaukee is off Thursday before returning to the diamond Friday at the Washington Nationals.
