Yesterday, Major League Baseball announced the finalists for several postseason awards. Each award could be taken home by three potential candidates and the winner will be decided next week. Brewers manager Craig Counsell is up for National League Manager of the Year. Others on the ballot include the skipper for a divisional foe, Mike Shildt of the St. Louis Cardinals. The field is rounded out by Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker.
Counsell has the longest tenure of the three candidates, having led the Brewers for five seasons now. Counsell was a finalist last year for the same award and he has been named the top NL manager two years running by The Sporting News.
