The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay women's basketball team dropped their home opener Saturday afternoon against South Dakota State. After the Lady Phoenix put up over 110 points to open the season, the offense was ice cold in the first half against the Coyotes. Amazingly enough, Green Bay led at halftime managing only 24 points in the first two quarters. The offensive sluggishness cropped up again in the fourth quarter though with GB scoreless in the first 5:22 of the frame. South Dakota State pulled away. Senior guard Frankie Wirtz led the Phoenix with 24 points.
For the second straight year, the UWGB men cruised past UW-Stout. This year's contest was closer but that isn't to say it was close. The Phoenix won 115-64. The bench got a lot of action in Saturday's game and the scoring was spread around. Seven players put up double figures for Green Bay. The team shot over 50 percent from the field.
