College basketball wrap-up: Phoenix split, Badgers win

The state's college basketball teams had a busy afternoon Sunday with their respective conference tournaments right around the corner.

The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team nearly saw a double-digit lead slip away, but ended up holding off Horizon League Regular Season Champion IUPUI for a 61-58 win. Frankie Wurtz scored a team-leading 17 points in the game, which also included her reaching the 1,000 point threshold in her career.

The Phoenix men were not as lucky, seeing a ten-point lead entering the second half slip away and fought tooth and nail the rest of the way. They ended up falling to Oakland 92-88 in double overtime behind a 26 point afternoon from JayQuan McCloud.

The Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team nearly saw their 13-point halftime lead slip away, but held off Rutgers for a 79-71 win. The Badgers had four players reach double figures including 18 from Micah Potter and two others with 17 points.
