Booyah Win on Walk-Off from Andy Blake

The Green Bay Booyah battled with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders on Monday night before Andy Blake propelled the Booyah to victory 5-4 on a walk-off single in the ninth.

The scoring for Green Bay started in the fourth inning when North Greenville senior Brady West homered over the right field wall to give the Booyah a 1-0 lead. In the sixth with the scored even at one, West Virginia’s Alec Burns connected for his first home run of the year, a three-run shot to give Green Bay a 4-1 advantage.

In the ninth, with the score tied at four, freshman Andy Blake delivered his first big hit of the season, singling into center field to bring home Stephen Hrustich and give Green Bay their first walk-off win of the year. Blake finished the day at a perfect 3-for-3.

On the mound, starter Jack Mahoney went four innings, giving up only two hits while striking out two Dock Spiders. Through seven innings this season, the UW-Milwaukee left hander is yet to give up an earned run. Out of the bullpen, Eric Torres punched out two batters, while throwing an inning and a third. Nicholls State junior Joe Taylor was on the hook for a blown save, but picked up the win after getting out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth.

Tomorrow, the Booyah hit the road and travel to La Crosse to take on the Loggers for the first time this season. Kentucky freshman Harrison Cook will make his first start of the season, as first pitch at Copeland Park is set for 6:35.
