WIAA votes for fall sports

If the Packerland Conference and Northeastern Conference want a fall sports season, they can if they are willing to wait.

The WIAA Board of Control voted 8-3 to delay the start of the fall season depending on the risk of the sport. For lower-risk sports like cross country, girls golf, girls swimming and girls tennis, the athletes can have official practices beginning on August 17th. Higher risk sports like football, boys soccer, and girls volleyball will have to wait until September 7th to officially begin their seasons. Since football players have a required number of practices they have to reach before they can play in the game, September 24th would be the earliest a game could take place.

If districts decide to not participate, a spring option may be offered. More details will be released by the WIAA at a later date.
