K/D Salmon Tournament heads into final days

There were only four moves within the top 25 on Thursday, Day 7 of the 9-day Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament. But boy, were they were some big ones!

Todd Smith of Brussels (left) moved into second place with a 40-1/2-inch, 31.58-pound giant of a “king” that hit a Howie Fly 55 feet down in 129 feet of water about two hours before sunset at Algoma. He's shown with fishing partner Rob Joniaux of Luxemburg.

Bill Hackett's 29.27-pounder, caught late Wednesday and weighed this morning, moved into the 10th spot by day’s end.

Two other additions to the Top 25 were a port prize winner for Luke Ebel at Sturgeon Bay, 27.07 pounds, and a 26.90-pounder for Justin Schneider at Algoma.

Winds are expected to be favorable for all anglers today and early tomorrow before picking up steam for the second half of the day Saturday.
