The quarterback room in Madison is getting thin after a second Wisconsin Badgers player tested positive for COVID-19.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Monday that third-stringer Chase Wolf tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday, a day after Graham Mertz followed up his record-setting game against Illinois with a positive test of his own. Big Ten protocols push the return of Mertz and Wolf out 21 days, which means they will miss at least three Big Ten games regardless of negative tests along the way. They could return sooner if a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test rules there was a false positive. With Jack Coan still out indefinitely, this puts redshirt junior Danny Vanden Boom behind center. According to ESPN, the athletic department has not confirmed the report citing medical privacy.
