Phoenix men off to a slow start

The Green Bay Phoenix mens’ basketball team fell again to the Wright State Raiders on Sunday afternoon in game two of the weekend pair of conference games, 90-77.

Green Bay found light early on in Sunday's matchup after pulling a 12-8 scoring run two minutes into the first half. Green Bay’s Amari Davis led the first half with a stellar twenty points while PJ Pipes added 10 points to contribute to Green Bay’s 39 point first half that gave them a three point halftime lead over the Raiders, 39-36. The Raiders came out in the second half with some more conviction and within minutes collected an 8-0 scoring run to put themselves ahead 47-41. At the 10:33 mark Wright State extended their lead by 15 points even after their struggle to contain Green Bay’s Davis. The Raiders continued to click on offense down the stretch to pull off the weekend sweep even after the Phoenix out rebounded the Raiders, 35-32. Davis finished with a career-high 35 points and will lead his squad on the road to Youngstown State for a pair of conference games starting on January 1st, 2021 at 3pm.
