There was plenty of winning going on by the area's baseball teams on Sunday.
In MLB action, the Milwaukee Brewers finished off their fifth straight win and a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies with a 5-0 victory. Keston Hiura knocked in three runs thanks to a third-inning solo shot and a sixth-inning RBI double. That extra base hit in the sixth was preceded by Omar Narvarez's seventh homer of the year. The pitching took care of the rest as four pitchers allowed only four hits on the day, led by Eric Lauer's six innings of shut-out ball. Holding onto a three-game lead, they can go for the jugular Monday night when they begin a three-game set against the Chicago Cubs at American Family Ballpark.
Their farm team north on U.S. 41 won a pair as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers beat the Peoria Chiefs 6-2 and 6-5.
The Green Bay Booyah split their doubleheader, winning the morning contest 3-2 and falling in the afternoon 6-5 to the Lakeshore Chinooks.
In Door County League action on Sunday, Washington Island beat West Jacksonport 8-1. Kolberg's game at Baileys Harbor was canceled due to poor field conditions.
