Vikings halt Eagles' season on The Clipper

The Southern Door Eagles boys' basketball team struggled to get their offense going Friday night as they saw their season end against Denmark 51-34.

Both teams took aim at each other's top players as the Eagles' Drew Daoust and the Vikings' Donovan Short were held in check for much of the game. Hayden Konkol was able to pick up the slack for the Vikings though, scoring 12 of his game-high 18 points in the first half. Daoust was able to score eight points and Taylor Schaefer added seven, but the Eagles found themselves down 24-19 at the break.

The Vikings would see their lead grow by as much as 11 in the second half with Cayden DeGrave scoring all seven of his points after the half and three others scoring at least six points. Jared Hawkey helped keep the Eagles close at times in the second half, scoring 11 of his 13 points after the break.

The Eagles' season ends with a 15-11 record including an 11-5 mark in the Packerland Conference. Head coach Josh Vandenbush praised his young squad for the resiliency they showed after starting the season 0-4.
