Brewers hang on for win over Orioles

Andrew McCutcheon had two hits and three RBIs and the Milwaukee Brewer’s bullpen shutdown the Baltimore Orioles, as the Brewers edged the Orioles 5-4.

The Brewers opened the scoring on a two-run double by McCutchen in the first inning, only to see the Orioles score four runs on a grand slam by Cedric Mullins in the bottom of the second.

Scoring two runs in the top of the fourth, the Brewers tied the game at 4-4.  It stayed tied until McCutchen singled in the seventh to drive in Willy Adames to give Milwaukee a 5-4 lead.

Devin Williams struck out three in a row pitching a scoreless inning after loading the bases with no outs in the eighth.

Josh Hader came on for the save in the ninth to preserve the win.

Eric Lauer started for the Brewers and allowed three hits and three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of pitching.

Milwaukee (2-3) and Baltimore will play the rubber game in the series on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6:05pm from Camden Yards.
