DCBL tops Shoreland, Baileys Harbor hosts Institute on 105.1 The GOAT

The All-Star matchup between the Door County Baseball League and Shoreland League once again went down to the wire, with Door County taking the matchup 3-2 at Capital Credit Union Park in Ashwaubenon Thursday night.

Door County scored the first run in the game in the second inning off of a double.  They scored their second run in the third on an RBI by Washington Island's Luke Geiger.  In the bottom of the third, Shoreland scored their first run of the game and made the lead only one run.

The game went scoreless from the third inning to the bottom of the eighth inning when Shoreland scored the tying run off of two wild throws.  Door County came back in the top of the ninth and scored their third run off of a double slapped by Baileys Harbor's Isaac Berkley, with two runners on and two outs on a 2-2 count, making the score 3-2.  The final out was a high pop-up down the first base line where the first baseman just had to walk up and get under it for the final out. Berkley was named the game's MVP and awarded the game ball.

DCBL action returns on Friday night when Institute makes the trip north to face Baileys Harbor. Kyle Ploor registered four hits, but a forgettable sixth inning doomed the Cubs as they lost to West Jacksonport last Friday night 9-5. The A's remain winless on the year after losing an early lead before falling to Maplewood 15-2.

Tim Kowols and Paul Schmitt will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 7 p.m. followed by the first pitch at 7:30 p.m.

Games waiting until Sunday include Sister Bay traveling to Kolberg for a 105.1 The Goat broadcast, Washington Island hosting Maplewood, and Egg Harbor battling at West Jacksonport. First pitch of those games are scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
