Two local freshmen will take on the biggest stage yet on Saturday when they run in the WIAA State Cross Country meet in Wisconsin Rapids.
Kewaunee's Hannah Miller and Southern Door's Emma Bousley earned their spots as two of the top five runners not competing as a member of a qualified team. Miller finished in fifth place at the Manitowoc Lutheran sectional with a time of 20:42, her fifth time breaking 21 minutes this season. Bousley reached the leaderboard in 10th place with a time of 21:23. She has cracked the 21:30 barrier five times, including two times breaking 21 minutes. Both runners took advantage of a fast Panther Invite course to post their personal records in the 5K.
Miller and Bousley will both line-up in Corral 10 at the Division 3 Girls State Meet Race, which begins at noon on Saturday.
