Spartans girls scratched by Tigers

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans girls' basketball team found themselves down by 12 at halftime and could not recover in a 64-53 loss to Wrightstown Friday night.

Danielle Bruecker was a wrecker for the Tigers, scoring 13 of her game-high 18 points in the first half to set the pace for her team. Brya Bousley and Elaina Vebaten each scored 12 points for the Tigers with Tara Theunis chipping in 11 points.

Sami Treml led the way for the Spartans with 10 points, but the Tigers made adjustments to slow her down in the second half after allowing for her to score seven of those points in the first half. Three others scored at least seven points in the loss, including nine from Maggie Hanmann.

In Saturday's only local game of  note, Gibraltar hits the road to face Wabeno-Laona at 11:30 a.m.
