The Green Bay Phoenix women's basketball team will be dancing this month, even if it was not the dance they wanted to go to.
The Women's National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) made things official on Thursday inviting several teams like the Phoenix who won their regular season titles but came up short in their respective tournaments, which gives the winner the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Despite Tuesday's disappointment against Cleveland State that saw them go several minutes without registering a basket, the Phoenix had one of their best seasons since their last appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2018. The Phoenix hosted Minnesota in last year's WNIT, falling 73-65.
