Green Bay women welcome Bowling Green for WNIT matchup

The second round of the Women's NIT is for the birds as the Green Bay Phoenix host the Bowling Green Falcons Monday night.

They ran past Niagara 84-52 in the opening round of the WNIT, the Phoenix's first-ever win in the annual postseason tournament. The Phoenix were able to coast in the second half after outscoring the Purple Eagles 25-5 in the second quarter. A 7-0 run in the first quarter and a four-minute defensive stand made it a comfortable  49-18 lead at the break. Luxemburg-Casco alum Cassie Schiltz led the Phoenix with a career-high 22 points. Sydney Levy added 18 points and Jasmine Kondrakiewicz chipped in nine points. The Purple Eagles were led by Angel Parker, who scored 17 points as the team failed to shoot 30 percent as a team.

The Falcons finished 28-6 overall and second in the Mid-American Conference with a 14-4 conference record. They beat Liberty 87-80 to clinch a second game in their WNIT run. According to Green Bay's media department, the Falcons deploy a balanced offense, with five players averaging in double figures. Elissa Brett leads the team at 14.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
