Spartans baseball split pair with Tigers, play at Denmark Thursday

A home doubleheader was a bag of mixed results for the Luxemburg-Casco baseball team, losing the first game 4-1 before capturing the second game 6-0.

In game one, the Tigers opened the game with a run scored in the first inning before tacking on three more in the fourth inning. The Spartans could only take a single bite out of the deficit when Brady Massey scored on a wild pitch. Ryan Routhieaux took the loss for the Spartans, who allowed all four runs on four hits across five innings while striking out four.

In game two, the Spartans scored two runs on an error and an RBI double by Jauquet in the third inning and tacked on another in the following inning on a sacrifice bunt by Braeden Schley. They would double the Tigers in the final two innings on an RBI single by Routhieaux in the sixth inning and a pair of RBI groundouts in the seventh inning.

The Spartans will travel to a park in Pulaski to battle Shawano Thursday at 5 p.m. Scoring has not been a problem for Shawano as they have gotten out to a 6-3 start. They have scored at least seven runs in four of the games, including a 14-13 win over Seymour in their last game.
