Sister Bay outlasts West Jacksonport on 105.1 The GOAT

The Sister Bay Bays were able to outlast and outscore the West Jacksonport Ports 6-2 on an cloudy overcast day in Jacksonport on 105.1 The GOAT.

Tom Sawyer started off the scoring for Sister Bay right away in the top of the first inning, singling into left field to score Laughlin from second base. Sam Forkert was the starting pitcher for Sister Bay, as he was dominant throughout the beginning of the game, blanking the Ports until the sixth inning.

In the third, it was Spencer Krause singled to center field to bring home Laughlin again, to extend the Bays lead to 2-0. Laughlin would score once again in the 6th inning, as Tom Sawyer got the RBI, his second of the game, making the lead 3-0.

Jaeger Brusky would give West Jacksonport two runs in the sixth off of a double to the right-center gap off of the new Sister Bay pitcher Matt Hect.

Sister Bay would put the game out of reach in the ninth inning when the tempers would begin to flare, as Spencer Krause would single, and the runner Tom Sawyer would score on an error by the center fielder. Hect would double, scoring Krause to make it 5-2, and a wild pitch would bring home another runner to make the final score 6-2.

KOLBERG 18, MAPLEWOOD 3

The Kolberg Braves picked up where they left off last year's double championship season with a convincing 18-3 victory over the Maplewood Mets on Sunday afternoon. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the second inning, but it was all Braves after that as they registered six runs over the following two innings and ended the game with scoring stints of four runs in the seventh and six more in the eighth to help end the game an inning short. Derek Schninktgen led the way with four RBI after going 4-4 at the plate. Austen Rohe and Nick LeCaptain added three RBI while Kyle Routhieaux knocked in a pair. Kordell Draves knocked in both runs for the Mets with a pair of singles. Jake Schneider earned the win with 10 strikeouts across four innings of work while allowing two earned runs.
